2012: Penny Glass (Teatro Pasmi) Barbara Santos (Kuringa Berlin) and TWT will be hosting a series of community workshops to explore gender oppression. These workshop are not professional development training opportunities i.e they are not for people who want to learn about TO. Rather, the proposed workshops for April - May 2012 (exact dates to be confirmed), are aimed at women from community. Women are invited to come together to explore, using theatre, the soico-historic and cultural consturction of gendered identities. We will also be investigating the contemporary way in which traditional narratives are still being played out, in the domestic and public sphere, in ways that reinforce oppressive perspectives on 'gendered possbilities'. The workshop is for women who are deeply wanting to enage with others, around this theme, and work towards creating a play to be performed to a larger community of women - possibliy also show-cased at a gathering latter in the year.

Turning over the stones..and invitation to reflect on the land we call home ... stemming from the work of Terry O'leary and Barbara Santos, TWT is planning to co-host a National Theatre of the Opressed gathering for arts activists, and arts advocates working with communities. We have choosen to work through, in, and around the theme of "home".... In the next weeks and months we will be sending out invitations to those who have expressed interest in the gathering. We will be asking you to join with us on a national exploration through Theatre of the Oppressed techniques on experiences, reflections, struggles - truths; about the complexities of a relationship to this land - Australia - that many call home, in the context of historical and contemporary acts of displacement and genocide, that continue unrecognised, and silenced.
