Forum Projects

COLLABORATION WITH GABFAI (Chiang Mai, Thailand). This project involves teaching communities Theatre of the Oppressed inorder to support their work in dialouging around trafficking, and state-less peoples rights. The work involves training 13 youth theatre troupes from the Mekong region: Laos, Burma, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Ria, Phayo and more.

United Act

TWT is engaged in working with GABFAI. A community theatre company based in Chiang Mai - Thailand. GABFAI has an extensive involvement of working at a "basement level" with state-less people both Burmese migrants and hill tribe communities, transferring the knowleadge of how to use theatre as a tool of popular media. Theatre that focuses on raising awerness around trafficking. In addition to their work on trafficking and displacement, GABFAI has been instrumental in developing and mentoring UNITED ACT a Burmese youth Theatre group who won the 2010 Freedom to Create awards in Cario.

Xris Reardon - Artistic Director of TWT, has been employed to work with GABFAI through AVI - who brokers Oz Aid placements, focused on providing technical expertise's identified as need in country, who are working on regional issues that meet development and aide realted goals. Xris whilst with GABFAI, is working to develop a theatrical production focused on Shan Women; enaged in constrution work. This piece will be presented at a Arts and Human Rights Festival in Chaing Mai in 2010.

Recently Completed Project:

GHUNGHAT 'A Forum theatre project'; initiated by Indian - Australian women. An exploration of the struggle in naming 'domestic violence', the journey to break silence, and barriers to support. Tomorrow is the first of several 'community interactive shows '. Thanks again to Penelope Glass (Teatro Pasmi) Myriam Bourez (ACTOR) and Pamela Tsui; inspired co-contributors.
